Cancun Day Three: TULUM

WED Day three:
Today James and I, along with a large portion of the “Liberty Security” group, went to TULUM. Tulum has ancient Mayan Ruins. We had an LDS tour guide named Lehi and he showed us some cool pictures in his binder while showing us around. I guess the ruins used to be colored Blue and they created that color from the purple flowers that grow in the area. He showed us with a cigarette how the flowers turn blue with the ash heat. He then proceeded to explain the different ruins.
He showed us where their watering hole was. Where the high priests lived, and where they found the skeletons of the high priests (years later, it was where the people would bury them). And from what it sounded like, he was telling us what the church thought what each building was. The baptismal font, the Celestial room of the temple, Telestial and Terrestrial. Also, this particular city never did Human sacrifices. James mentioned, “That’s probably why the city was never completely destroyed.” I thought his insight was interesting. The Mayans were conquered by the Spanish because when the spanish came they thought it was their Gods. They were tall, white, and had long pointy beards. So the spanish easily took them over because of the confusion the Mayan’s were experiencing. We saw a little bit of Book of Mormon History today. I don’t know who exactly inhabited this particular city, but I do know that people from that time lived there. And from all the art carved in stone I know that they knew there was a God, that they believed in three separate beings, and that the Savior Did come to visit them. Pretty amazing stuff. I wonder when he’ll come again?

After the tour was over we jumped into the Caribbean Sea. It was so HOT on that tour! Yesterday we were fine because we had shade and water, but there was no shade today, nor random water breaks. Everyone else left but we swam for a little bit. It was sooo nice! We looked at some shops and there were many things made of obsidian. I love that stone. The Mexicans drop prices of things that you were looking at as you walk away. It was sort of funny. There is always a lower price, they just don’t want to give it to you unless they think you won’t come back. We didn’t buy anything today. There was this AMAZING Chess set, but we decided not now. We can always re-visit, or travel somewhere and get a similar one when we can afford it. It was beautiful though. They had many beautiful obsidian things mixed with shells and other stones. It was a good day.

James and I were pretty worn out by the end of that (2:30pm) so we ate lunch back at the hotel and napped in some hammocks by the pool. It was wonderful. I then got ready to go to our first reservation dinner (We received three cards to eat at special places). Tonight is Italian! I will wear my Christmas Heel boots, pencil skirt and stripped yellow collar top. We had an EXCELLENT dinner tonight! Usually we do the buffet, but this Italian Restaurant was divine. They even covered our plates with silver dome tops and opened all 3 of our plates at once! It was nice. Our meals were beautifully prepared and decored on our plates. Even our desserts were presented very well. Afterwards the theature next to our room was playing “Kung food Panda” so we watched the end of it and the beginning of a dance show. We didn’t stay till the end because it was the same as last night. Not the performances, but the thong behinds that the girls would sport every other song. It was a little much. I liked the vegas style, but I can’t enjoy the dancing when all I see is their booties. But I do like watching dancers perform. That’s why we stayed for at least a short time, just not the whole time.

Love Always,

Mrs. Fray Fray
