While visiting James in Alberta we did our own mini baby Reveal! We had originally wanted to do a party and cut the cake at the party, but ... it seemed that he would be staying in Canada until I was nearly due to pop! So, we decided that we would do a reveal together and then announce the gender online so that our family could all enjoy it at the same time. We took the gender envelope to a lady in the area who does cakes as a hobby/income. She was SOoo Excited when we asked her to do this for us! I loved seeing her reaction to all of this, it made me a bit more excited for it as well!
James had her open the envelope in front of us so that he could see her reaction to the gender, but she didn't give anything away. We left and returned for the cake two days later. James was working that day, but we decided to go out and cut the cake together before he got too busy. We went to a nearby park/pond and asked these two 12year old roller-bladers to take a few photos of us. They were happy to oblige.
I wanted James to cut the cake because I knew he was dying to know much more than I was. James was so ex-static over the whole thing. He was so tempted to open the envelope the entire week, but I am so glad he held out and waited for the cake to be completed.
